Natural and historical walks abound in Reefton

Reefton has plenty to offer those who want to discover and explore this area of the West Coast. The town has a variety of walks for those interested in history and nature. Victoria Conservation Park offers plenty of tramping opportunities for all.

Choose from one or several tracks in the network which can lead to a historic mining relics, a regenerated forest, untouched landscapes with stunning river, lake or mountain scenery. There are also many ecological areas and wildlife corridors.

Walks in Reefton can take just a few minutes to several days. It can be covered by moderately fit people wearing suitable footwear and weather-proof clothing. Longer walks and overnight tramps are better suited to those who have built up the stamina and have the right experience, equipment and provisions for it. As with anywhere in the West Coast, tracks can be affected by weather – which changes rapidly -- so it’s best to check with the Visitor Centre on the latest track conditions.
