Waiuta Swimming Pool Walk

Located in historic area of Waiuta this fifteen minute return walk starts from the information area. It leads down to the old town pool (which was Olympic size in its day!), incongruous amid regenerating bush. Mine buildings and foundations can be visited on the return leg.

Our History The town of Reefton was established in 1870 and was immediately a prosperous place. In August 1888, it became the first place in New Zealand to have a public supply of electricity, even before London or New York.
